Performs high-level of analysis, design, development, testing and support of complex IT projects/systems/applications. Leads and directs junior IT team members in defining and creating technical solutions.

Supports business users in the use of the applications/systems.
Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from the underlying true needs.
Proactively communicates and collaborates with external parties and users at Allied World to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Project Definition, Functional requirements (Technical Requirements Document), Use Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs.
Successfully engages in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Works independently with users to define concepts, as well as under the direction of Project Managers.
Completes technical tasks associated with the delivery of business applications.
Proactively engages the client with alternatives.
Performs related duties as assigned or requested.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science of a related discipline and at least 5 years of specific experience in Business Systems or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience in IT implementation methods and tools.
Demonstrated ability to understand and provide IT solutions to complex problems.
Experience with professional liability insurance.
Requires experience with state of the art application support software packages (e.g., Oracle SQL, .NET, Java, Websphere, HTML, XML, ASP, etc.).
Requires strong technical/analytical ability and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively with business and IT managers and IT staff.
Has solid understanding of the insurance business in general and the insurance business processes that are supported by the application system(s).
Requires a thorough knowledge of the system development life cycle and insurance company functions and systems.
